Elena Sander studied at Omsk State Pedagogical University, Russia, and then spent several years working as a Russian, German and English teacher in Russia and Germany. She achieved her second university degree, a German Diploma in Russian and English Translation, at Heidelberg University in Germany. She is a sworn translator for Russian and English.
